Transitional Living with Transportation Program Fundamental

Wellness Initiative supports embracing the Eight Dimensions of Wellness—Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Occupational, Physical, Social, and Spiritual—to achieve longevity and improved quality of life. The Community of Grace Organization (COGO) incorporates the Eight Dimensions of Wellness into its mission, vision, and goals to provide a comprehensive framework for assessing and improving various aspects of an individual's overall well-being.

Here is how COGO aligns with each dimension:

Eight Dimensions:

Emotional Wellness:

At COGO, we recognize the significance of emotional wellness. Our programs focus on helping individuals, especially women, cope with the emotional challenges of substance use disorders and trauma, fostering emotional resilience and maintaining a positive outlook on their journey to recovery.

Intellectual Wellness:

Intellectual wellness is fostered through our educational programs and cognitive growth initiatives. We encourage continuous learning, problem-solving, creativity, and personal development, empowering individuals to enhance their intellectual well-being.

Social Wellness:

Building and maintaining healthy, positive relationships are central to COGO's mission. We prioritize effective communication, empathy, social support, and engaging in social activities that foster a sense of belonging and community.

Environmental Wellness:

COGO emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive and nurturing living environment for women and their children. Our efforts also extend to environmental sustainability and promoting practices that enhance the physical and mental health of our community.

Occupational Wellness:

COGO is dedicated to helping clients find personal fulfillment and satisfaction in their daily activities. By assisting individuals in establishing work-life balance, pursuing meaningful careers, and connecting with their professional aspirations, we promote occupational wellness.

Spiritual Wellness:

COGO respects and supports individuals' diverse spiritual and religious beliefs as they explore their sense of purpose and inner peace. We provide opportunities for spiritual practices, mindfulness, and meditation to nurture spiritual wellness.

Financial Wellness:

We understand the financial challenges individuals may face during their recovery. COGO strives to support financial wellness by helping clients make informed financial decisions, manage their resources responsibly, and work towards financial security as they rebuild their lives.

Physical Wellness:

Physical wellness is a fundamental aspect of recovery. COGO promotes healthy lifestyles through physical fitness, nutrition, adequate rest, and preventive healthcare measures, helping individuals improve their physical well-being and reduce the risk of illness.

These dimensions are interwoven in our commitment to support and empower mothers and their children on their journey to recovery. COGO's holistic approach aims to help individuals lead more balanced, fulfilling lives by addressing and nurturing each aspect of their overall well-being.

  • Child Care Program

In our mission and vision to help mothers regain custody of their children, we emphasize the importance of motherhood. Our Child Care Program at the Community of Grace Organization is now dedicated to focusing on the essentials of nurturing and fostering the well-being of children. We prioritize tracking and nurturing children's milestones, typically encompassing five key domains: physical growth, cognitive development, emotional and social development, language development, and sensory and motor development.

Physical Growth: This domain refers to the child's physical development, including height, weight, motor skills, and overall physical health. It encompasses aspects such as gross and fine motor skills, coordination, and general physical well-being.

Cognitive Development: Cognitive development focuses on the child's intellectual and thinking abilities. It includes skills like problem-solving, memory, attention, language development, and other cognitive functions that support learning and understanding.

Emotional and Social Development: This domain involves the child's ability to recognize and manage their own emotions, as well as their capacity to form healthy relationships and interact with others. It includes emotional regulation, social skills, empathy, and self-awareness.

Language Development: Language development encompasses the child's acquisition and use of language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It involves the development of vocabulary, grammar, and communication abilities.

Sensory and Motor Development: Sensory and motor development involves the child's sensory perception (e.g., sight, hearing, touch) and the development of their motor skills, which include both fine motor skills (e.g., hand-eye coordination) and gross motor skills (e.g., walking, running, jumping).

Focusing on these five key domains is essential to ensure comprehensive and holistic child development and well-being.

  • Relapse Prevention

COGO's mission is to empower individuals transitioning from rehabilitation to independent living. To prevent relapse, we employ strategies aligned with the Eight Dimensions of Wellness. Our approach fosters emotional resilience, sustainable environments, financial stability, intellectual growth, meaningful careers, physical health, positive social connections, and spiritual exploration. These strategies help individuals maintain recovery and lead fulfilling lives as they navigate early recovery challenges outside of rehab facilities.
